27-year-old husband started having affairs and distanced himself from his wife after she was diagnosed with Tuberculosis

Dubai: A married woman in her early 20 hanged herself after her husband justified his extramarital affair, citing the Indian Supreme Court order.

The woman from the south Indian state of Chennai committed suicide after her husband, a watchman, challenged her that she had no right to stop him from having an extramarital affair, according to reports in Indian media.

This is first incident reported after the highest court in India decriminalised adultery.

The 27-year-old husband started having affairs and distanced himself from his wife after she was diagnosed with Tuberculosis.

The couple was married for two years and have a child.

When the wife told the man of her life to stop seeing other women and threatened to call the police on him.

The husband, apparently, said it is not an option as the Supreme Court has ruled adultery to not be a criminal offence anymore.

The police is now questioning the husband.
