Taylor Swift’s Lover album reveal a lot about her and Joe Alwyn’s romance and how serious it is. But no song does it more directly than “London Boy,” where Alwyn’s voice literally appears to opens the track. Swift talks about their falling in love, the time she’s spent in London (and she has spent a lot of time there discreetly over the past three years), and how his English identity has become part of her American.

It’s a cute and revealing lyrical portrait of their relationship. Here, the song’s lyrics, via Genius, with references annotated. You can listen to “London Boy” and Swift’s full Lover album here on Spotify.

Joe Alwyn

We can go driving in, on my scooter

Uh, you know, just riding in London

Alright, yeah

Taylor Swift

I love my hometown as much as Motown, I love SoCal

And you know I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey

Swift has homes in Nashville (where she grew up) and Los Angeles in addition to New York City.

But something happened, I heard him laughing

I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent

They say home is where the heart is

But that’s not where mine lives

You know I love a London boy

Alwyn is from North London. People reported in March that the couple travels between Alwyn’s home there and Swift’s houses in Los Angeles and New York City. “They’ve found a lifestyle that makes their relationship easy and strong,” People‘s insider said. “They have a very special relationship. Joe adores Taylor.”

When they first started dating, Swift spent a lot of time in the city wearing disguises, The Sun reported when it broke news of their relationship in May 2017. A friend told the outlet at the time that “this isn’t a new couple alert or a secret relationship–the only people this has been a secret to is the media because all of us, Taylor and Joe’s closest friends and their families, were aware they have been together for several months and have known each other for a longtime. After her 1989 tour and all the attention Taylor received, she learned she had to be more protective of her personal life and she and Joe decided early on to keep their private life private.”

I enjoy walking Camden Market in the afternoon

He likes my American smile, like a child when our eyes meet

Darling, I fancy you

Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates

Highgate is a suburb in North London. Swift and Alwyn have been photographed on dates in North London, so her visits there haven’t been all secret. Last June, she and Alwyn were photographed leaving The Flask, a British pub there. And this February, they were photographed leaving The Spaniards Inn in Hampstead.

So I guess all the rumors are true

You know I love a London boy

Swift never publicly commented on her relationship with Alwyn, opting to keep her private life private. This is the most she has done to directly address the reports about their relationship.

Boy, I fancy you (Ooh)

And now I love high tea, stories from Uni, and the West End

Uni is British slang for university. Alwyn attended the University of Bristol.

You can find me in the pub, we are watching rugby with his school friends

Swift and Alwyn have literally been photographed in pubs on both their public London dates.

Show me a gray sky, a rainy cab ride

Babe, don’t threaten me with a good time

They say home is where the heart is

But god, I love the English

You know I love a London boy, I enjoy nights in Brixton

Shortage in the afternoon

He likes my American smile, like a child when our eyes meet

Darling, I fancy you

Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates

So I guess all the rumors are true

You know I love a London boy

Boy, I fancy you

So please show me Hackney

Doesn’t have to be, but we be up on Palm Street

Just wanna be with you

Wanna be with you

Stick with me, I’m your queen

Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney, I’m the heat

Swift did a fashion collaboration with Stella McCartney for Lover.

Just wanna be with you (Wanna be with you)

Wanna be with you (Oh)

You know I love a London boy, I enjoy walking SoHo

Drinking in the afternoon (Yeah)

He likes my American smile, like a child when our eyes meet

Darling, I fancy you (You)

Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates

So I guess all the rumors are true (Yeah)

You know I love a London boy (Oh)

Boy (Oh), I fancy you (I fancy you, ooh)

So please show me Hackney

Doesn’t have to be, but we be up on Palm Street

Just wanna be with you

I, I, I fancy you

Oh whoa, oh, I

Stick with me, I’m your queen

Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney, I’m the heat

Just wanna be with you (Ooh)

Wanna be with you

I fancy you (Yeah), I fancy you

Oh whoa, ah
