Last Monday, news broke that actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, would be pleading not guilty in the college admissions case. Loughlin and Giannulli, who are accused of paying $500,000 to get their daughters admitted into the University of Southern California as rowing crew recruits, filed documents that waive their right to appear in court for an arraignment.

Since all of this news broke in March, Loughlin, Giannulli, and their daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose, have been constantly in the spotlight. Per a report from Us Weekly, the stress of the scandal has put tension on Loughlin and her husband’s marriage.

“Lori is constantly arguing with Mossimo because she is beginning to grasp that they are in very serious jeopardy,” a source told the magazine. A second source went on to say that Loughlin’s friends are siding with her in the scandal and think that Giannulli is to blame.

“Everyone feels bad for her. They think the situation was something concocted by her husband,” the source reportedly said. “Her friends don’t like him.”

Because the couple didn’t take plea deals, they were also indicted with money laundering charges which carries a 20-year maximum sentence on its own. The fact that the couple didn’t take a plea deal increased their chances for prison time. TMZ says their minimum time behind bars would be four years and nine months.

People reports that Loughlin has had to come to terms with the gravity of what she is accused of.

“It’s just taking some time for it to sink in that what she was allegedly doing could be considered illegal,” a source told People. “To her, it wasn’t egregious behavior. Was it entitled and perhaps selfish? Perhaps. But she didn’t see it as being a legal violation. From the beginning, she didn’t want to take a deal, because she felt that she hadn’t done anything that any mom wouldn’t have done, if they had the means to do so. So this wasn’t her being obstinate; this was her truly not understanding the seriousness of the allegations.”
