Iraq paramilitary groups blame U.S., Israel for blasts at Iraqi militia bases: statement

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Iraq’s mostly Iran-backed paramilitary groups on Wednesday blamed blasts at its weapons depots and bases on the United States and Israel, a statement said.

The statement from the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), the umbrella grouping of Iraq’s paramilitary groups, said the United States had allowed four Israeli drones to enter the region accompanying U.S. forces and carry out missions on Iraqi territory.

It said it would defend itself against any attacks on paramilitary bases, including using “advanced weaponry”, without elaborating.
