Last May, both Cazzie David and Mac Miller became single and watched their exes Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande get together, quickly get engaged, and dominate entertainment news with their very public, all-in relationship. David and Miller kept any pain they felt off social media. But Us Weekly now reports that privately, the two became close friends while coping with the heartbreak.
“Cazzie and Mac never met but started speaking because of Ariana and Pete’s relationship,” a source told the outlet. “[They] leaned on each other.”
David also became close with Miller’s mom Karen Meyers, who she spent time with ahead of the Grammys this past Sunday. “Cazzie and Mac’s mom have become extremely close and talk almost every day,” the source added. “Mac’s mom loves her.”
Miller and David each had two-year relationship with their exes and have touched on them publicly since their splits. Miller spoke about Grande in July to Beats 1 Radio, saying that he was happy for her moving on.
“I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years,” he said, via Marie Claire Australia. “We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple. It’s all positive energy. I am happy for her and [the fact that she’s] moving forward with her life, just as I’m sure she is with me.”
