Armed men kidnap 15 children in southeastern Niger: mayor

NIAMEY (Reuters) – Armed men kidnapped 15 children overnight in southeastern Niger, the local mayor said on Saturday.

Boukar Mani Orthe, the mayor of Toumour, said about 50 armed men seized the children in a village about 9 km (6 miles) from the town center.

On Thursday suspected Boko Haram fighters killed eight people working at French drilling company Foraco’s water well site in Toumour, near the border with Nigeria.
