Policeman apprehended suspect while he was posting massage cards on car windshields

Dubai — A visitor has been accused of pushing a policeman and injuring him when he tried to apprehend him for putting massage service cards on car windshields, a court heard on Monday.

The policeman was part of a group of policemen carrying out a random swoop to stop individuals distributing massage cards to pedestrians or putting them on windshields of cars in Jebel Ali area.

When the policeman spotted the 35-year-old Vietnamese visitor putting a card on a car window in December, he caught him by his arm.

When the policeman identified himself, the 35-year-old pushed him strongly and tried to run away.

The policemen fell down on the ground and injured himself while his partners chased the Vietnamese and apprehended him.

Prosecutors charged the suspect with assaulting and injuring a policeman on duty.

The Vietnamese suspect did not enter a plea when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday.

Presiding judge Urfan Omar adjourned the hearing until a Vietnamese translator is available in court on March 12.
