Our Very Subjective, Deeply Definitive Cast List for 'Feud: Charles and Diana'

Ryan Murphy, who is currently on the hook for three more seasons of American Crime Story and will soon be onto American Horror Story‘s seventh season, has so much free time that he decided to announce the next installment in Feud, his latest series for FX. Given just how much television Murphy is pumping out for the network, we don’t know when we can expect this [pops popcorn] season of Feud. Remember: the first season hasn’t even premiered yet. But since we’re already desperate for it, we thought it would be nice to speed the process up and help Murphy cross one item off his to-do list.

Ta-da! We cast the show for him. So here is ELLE.com’s very subjective, deeply definitive cast list for Feud: Charles and Diana.

With blockbusters like Thor: Ragnarok and The Jungle Book on his upcoming slate, Benedict Cumberbatch is probably going to be too busy to take our call. But let’s face it—there’s no one better suited, facially speaking, to playing the Prince of Wales. Even their face grooves are in the same place.

We’d ask you to hear us out on this one, but you can just see it out with your own eyes. The American actress really only needs a haircut to step into the shoes of the beloved “people’s princess.” Some coaching in how to master the English accent, and her huge, expressive eyes will do the rest.

Toby Stephens as James Hewitt

Former army officer James Hewitt was hired to teach the princess and her sons how to ride horses. They went on to have a five-year-long romance, but Hewitt showed his true colors when he attempted to sell letters Diana had written him. Toby Stephens—the son of Maggie Smith, no less—has the waggish charisma and ginger top to pull it off.
