Donald Trump: ‘Sleep well tonight

Donald Trump has told the world it can “sleep well tonight” as he landed back in the US following his summit with Kim Jong Un.

The US president said everyone could now feel much safer after he signed a historic document with the North Korean leader in Singapore on Tuesday.

Mr Trump wrote on Twitter: “Just landed – a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office.

“There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea. Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience. North Korea has great potential for the future!

“Before taking office people were assuming that we were going to war with North Korea.

“President Obama said that North Korea was our biggest and most dangerous problem. No longer – sleep well tonight!”

Mr Trump and Mr Kim signed an agreement that signalled the “complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula”.

However, it had always been Mr Kim’s goal to rid his country of US sanctions and North Korea’s national news agency reported he had achieved that.
