Affordable education on new campus of Sharjah Indian School

Sharjah: The new campus of Sharjah Indian School in Al Juwaiza area will start functioning with an activity day scheduled on Monday, the Indian Association Sharjah (IAS) which manages the school has announced.

Consul-General of India in Dubai Vipul will inaugurate the programme.

The school will offer affordable education to thousands of Indian students living in Sharjah, said advocate Y.A. Rahim, president of IAS.

The admission for the next academic year is already open.

“The new campus will admit only boys from grade 1 to 12. It will have a strength of 5,600 students. Of these, 4,500 will be shifted from the old campus,” he said.

There are 10,400 students on the current campus of the Sharjah Indian School in Hubaiba, which will retain the girl students to continue as a girls’ school with classes from KG to grade 12.

The new building of the school was inaugurated by Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister of the South Indian state of Kerala during his UAE visit in December 2016.

However, IAS office-bearers said arranging other amenities and formalities took time for the new campus to begin classes.

The new campus has 160 classrooms, 19 language rooms, seven computer labs, 16 activity rooms, 11 teachers’ rooms, four clinics, two libraries, two audio-visual labs, and a multipurpose auditorium, among other amenities.
